the Philadelphia Daily News. In the course of her still evolving journalism
career, she's written stories on Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Li'l Kim, Allen
Iverson, Alonzo Mourning, The Artist, Jodeci, D'Angelo, R. Kelly and Puffy.
"I'm challenged by people who are mavericks, who are rebels, and who do things
their own way. I especially love to interview people who are misrepresented
in the public eye, or who have not done too many interviews. Being a
journalist who has come of age in the hip-hop generation has allowed me to be
a part of history. It's amazing how something that started in clubs and parks
in the Bronx has become a global phenomenon." Right now, Tonya is working on
two magazines spawned by that culture -- Puffy's "Notorious" and Chris Rock's
"Illtop Journal," a college humor magazine that debuted at Howard University
in November 1999.
